I have filed via TurboTax for many years and have never had any problems. I have never received a letter either in prior years from the IRS to verify my identity through ID.Me., which links to their government website and which also had me do facial recognition photos etc., confirm information I had already provided, and upon finishing - the website let me know the verification was complete and there was nothing else I needed to do. It is now approaching the end of the year, and not only have I yet to receive my tax return - but I was still made to pay for a service that in the end did absolutely nothing for me. I check the online “Where’s My Refund?” tab on the official IRS website almost everyday and it says the same thing each time - that my tax return is still under review. I haven’t received any other letters or emails or any other communication from the IRS saying that there was something I filed wrong or that I needed to amend and re-file, or anything to tell me the status of my return. It is frustrating and quite annoying. What would have them prolong such a process?
Once you file your tax return, TurboTax gets no information from the IRS. Only the IRS is in control. TurboTax is not involved in your identity verification or in speeding up your refund. Contact the IRS for information.
