Can I change my state information in return file?

I made a mistake while I was filling my information. I accidentally put myself as a resident but I am not. I want to fix it. Actually I did it but in my homepage still it is looking like the old one. I want to be sure it has changed.

There are two places where you can correct the state information you entered:

  1. Open your return and go to your personal information, you can correct the state you entered as for your residency,  if needed.
  2. Also go to the State Taxes section of your return and select Review/Edit .  In this screen you will see all the state returns you are preparing.  Select edit next to the state where you need to make the residency change.

You'll have to wait to see if the return is accepted or rejected. If it is accepted you will have to amend it. If it is rejected you will be able to make changes.

Do not amend until your original return has been fully processed to avoid unnecessary delays.
