are cap gains figured in? I note that they are recognized but I see no place where they are entered.

Yes, capital gains should be figured in and are reported on Line 7 of your Form 1040.  To ensure your capital gains are reported, view your return in TurboTax Online before filing by following the instructions in this TurboTax Help Article: How do I preview my TurboTax Online return before filing?

If you are asking how to enter your capital gains, please see this TurboTax Help Article if you received a Form 1099-B: Where do I enter or import a 1099-B?

If you have capital gains distributions from a mutual fund reported on Form 1099-DIV, please see Where do I enter my 1099-DIV in TurboTax Online?
