After checking the status it shows "refund scheduled to be mailed". Why would they mail it when direct deposit was selected? Does this have to do with the id verification

Id verification was completed and passed. Received state via direct deposit but now federal is saying check will be mailed out.

Only the IRS would be able to provide information as to why they are mailing your refund check. You can contact them by following the steps in this help article: How do I contact the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)?
