We'd love to help you complete your tax return, but need more information. Can you please clarify your question?  Do you mean you claimed yourself as a dependent?

If you have already e-filed you can amend the return.

If you want to make changes or add a document to a tax return that has already been submitted, you should follow these guidelines.

  • You must first wait until the initial return is completely processed.
  • You will have to use the same TurboTax account that you used for the original tax return.
  • Once you begin your amendment, you'll see your original return.
  • The refund calculator will start new at $0 and only reflect the changes in the refund or tax due
  • Only make changes to the areas of your return that need amending.
  • You have three years from the date you filed your return or two years after you paid the tax due (whichever is later) to file an amendment

Select your product below and follow the instructions.

Did you already e-file?   Is that mistake blocking your parent--or someone else who can claim you--from e-filing now?   You have to wait for your return to be fully processed.  Then you can amend.  You will need to go to My Info, click your name and go through the screens to the question that asked if you can be claimed as someone else's dependent.  Change your answer to YES.

See this TurboTax support FAQ for amending a tax return - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/amend-change-correct-return-a...

Meanwhile...if there is someone whose e-file is being rejected-----they have no choice this year but to file by mail.   Waiting for you to amend will not help them.  You can be claimed on their return but they cannot e-file. Your SSN is in the system and no one else can e-file a return using your SSN this year.   They need to print, sign and date their return in ink and mail it in.
