'There is an update available' message when attempting to e-file
by TurboTax• Updated 3 weeks ago
If your TurboTax Desktop software isn't up to date with the latest release, you'll get this message when you try to e-file.
To resolve this issue, update TurboTax. After the update installs, restart TurboTax, select File, and e-file your return.
If you keep getting this message after updating TurboTax, reboot your computer and try e-filing again.
In rare cases, you'll keep getting this message even after restarting Windows. If that happens:
- Uninstall TurboTax.
- Browse to C:/Program Files (x86)/TurboTax/ and delete the Deluxe 20XX folder (substitute your product's year for XX and your version for Deluxe if you're using a different version).
- Reinstall TurboTax and return to the File section to e-file.
