What's e-file rejection code IL1040-8600-2?

This e-file rejection code means your driver’s license data doesn't match what the state of Illinois has on file. You can either correct your Illinois driver's license/state ID information or use a different signature verification method on your Illinois return (follow the instructions in the section, Try This First.)

Note: If your Illinois driver's license/state ID is the only signature verification method available to you and you don't have this available, print and mail your return this year. Next year you should be able to e-file.

If you've tried signing your Illinois return with information you know is correct, but you still keep getting rejected, you'll need to print and mail your return.

After mailing your return, we suggest you follow up with the Illinois Department of Revenue and request that they correct their records so you can e-file next year.
