How do I fix e-file reject F8962-070?

SOLVEDby TurboTax32438Updated 3 weeks ago

E-file reject F8962-070 happens when your return is missing Form 1095-A Health Insurance Marketplace Statement.

First, find your 1095-A form. If you don’t have it, download it from HealthCare.gov or your state's Marketplace.

Once you have your form:

Note: If your TurboTax navigation looks different from what’s described here, learn more.

  2. On the Let's fix your returns and then refile screen, select Fix it now.
  3. Select Continue on the Let's take a look at your return screen.
  4. You’ll get taken back to the Keep going to refile your returns screen. From here, select Federal from the left menu.
  5. Select Deductions & Credits from the top menu and scroll down to Medical. Select Show more.
  6. Select Start or Revisit next to Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A).
  7. Answer the questions and continue through to enter the details from your Form 1095-A.
  8. When you’re done, select File from the left menu and continue through to refile your return.

Your return may have been rejected if the IRS has information that someone in your household should have a 1095-A.

If you don't have a Form 1095-A and know you won't be receiving one, you can certify this in TurboTax in order to refile your return:

Note: If your TurboTax navigation looks different from what’s described here, learn more.

  1. Select Federal from the left menu, then Deductions & Credits.
  2. Navigate to Medical and select Show More.
  3. Select Start or Revisit next to Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A).
  4. You'll be asked if you received a 1095-A. Select No.
  5. Select the statement indicating you did not receive a 1095-A. By selecting this certification, you will be able to e-file your return and meet the requirements under rejected code F8962-070.
  6. Select File from the left menu and continue through the process to resubmit your return.

If you're not sure if someone in your household purchased insurance through HealthCare.gov or your state's Marketplace, check those websites for an account.
