We will not, without your permission, sell, publish, or share your personal information with a third party unless it is necessary to complete a transaction or provide you a product or service you requested or authorized.
If you don’t want us to share your personal information with a third party company, you can decide not to, by choosing to not use these third party services or products.
Does Intuit share your Information with credit bureaus?
Some of your information is shared with credit bureaus for user identity verification and security purposes. We do not provide financial (like your income or W2) info for credit reports/scores. For example, if you can’t remember your log-in information, to make sure you are the user of the account, we may ask you a series of questions provided by a credit bureau. This added security helps ensure only you have access to your account.
What does “sharing of credit worthiness” mean?
We do not share information about you that will affect your credit score (worthiness) with any company. You would have a legal right to restrict sharing if we shared information that affects your credit sore or report, but we do not share such information. This is why, under the section “Does Intuit Share?” the answer is “No,” Intuit does not share. But under the section “Can you limit this sharing,” the answer to this question is “Yes.”
How do I agree or not agree to share my information with other companies?
We will offer you third party companies’ products and services when you use our tax products.
For example, you may choose to put your tax refund on a NetSpend card or enroll in Audit Defense from TaxAudit.com. Each time you decide to use or purchase a third party product or service through us, you will be asked to agree to share your information with that company in order to complete the transaction. If you don’t agree, we will not share your information. We will only share your information to enable you to receive the products or services you decide to purchase or use.
Can I limit what Intuit shares? How do I opt out of sharing for joint marketing?
We will not, without your permission, sell, publish or share your personal information with any third party for their use unless it is necessary to complete a transaction or provide you a product or service you requested or authorized, including joint marketing.
In most cases, you control when Intuit shares your personal information with other companies. For example, if you decide to put your tax refund on a NetSpend prepaid card, we will only send your information to NetSpend at the time of purchase to fulfill this request and not for any other purpose. In this example, because you affirmatively decide to use the NetSpend service, we do not provide an opt-out. If you do not want us to share your information with NetSpend, you do not have to use this product or service, and no information will be shared.
How do you have my personal information if I'm using a desktop product like TurboTax desktop?
We do not have your financial information if you use our desktop products and you print and mail your return.
If you use our desktop products and decide to electronically file your tax return, we are required to retain a copy of your encrypted tax return on our systems.
In what situations would Intuit share my personal information if I’m no longer a customer?
Our core commitment to you is that we will not without your permission, sell, publish or share your personal information with a third party unless it is necessary to complete a transaction or provide you a product or service you requested or authorized. However, Intuit may be required to disclose information to cooperate with regulators or law enforcement authorities or to comply with a court order, subpoena, or search warrant, or a law enforcement request.
