Although TurboTax Online and the mobile app function similarly and support the same tax forms, here are the main differences:

  • On average, customers using the mobile app take 30% less time to complete their taxes than those using TurboTax Online.

  • You can use your face to sign in instead of having to remember a password.

  • You can snap a photo of your W-2 in the mobile app, which will automatically enter it on your return.

  • The mobile app sends you filing reminders and updates on forms availability and refund status.

  • The mobile app doesn't have Print Center or Tax Tools.

You can switch between TurboTax Online and the mobile app to take advantage of their unique features.

For example, if you're using TurboTax Online and want to snap a picture of your W-2, install the TurboTax app, sign in, and snap away. You can then resume work in TurboTax Online.
