Why do I need to restart TurboTax when switching between Desktop products?

When you switch between different TurboTax Desktop products, or go to activate a new one, you need to restart TurboTax to successfully open the other product.

We recommend you save your tax file every time you switch between products. If you switch products without saving, you may lose progress on your tax return.

When asked Do you want to save this file?, select Yes.

If you’re adding a new product, after saving your file, you’ll be asked to enter its license code.
