Some Connecticut TurboTax customers might have overpaid their state taxes due to an error with the teachers' retirement subtraction.

If we notified you, we recommend you review your state tax return and, if needed, amend it as soon as possible. By filing an amended return, you’ll be able to get the money back in your pocket where it belongs!

To correct your return, please follow the steps below:

    • Enter “TO CLAIM PENSION AND ANNUITY SUBTRACTION” as the reason for amending.

  • Follow the instructions provided by TurboTax to print, sign, date and mail the amended state tax return.

  • Save a copy of your amended state tax return for your records.

If you have questions, call 844-333-2161 (Monday–Friday, 8 AM to 8 PM ET) to speak with a specialist. Mention 2024 Connecticut Teachers' Retirement so they know what you’re calling about.
