Your $500 Child and Other Dependent Tax Credits comes from the $500 maximum allowed for the Other Dependent Tax Credit, is not correct.

Why is it not correct?  What is the age of the child you claimed?

I am having a similar issue.  I have a 20 month old who's adoption was finalized last year. We just received his social security card/number today and it still says only $500 credit.

Go back through the dependent screens.   If the adoption was finalized last year, make sure that you have indicated the relationship of your child (don't use ''other''), including marking the adopted box.  Make sure you have the child marked as a US Citizen that lived with you the entire year (12 months) and make sure that when you entered the social security number, don't mark the ''SSN is not valid for work'' box.   Make sure that you did not indicate that the child (or another family member) provided more than half of their support.   You may want to delete the child and then re-enter them if you continue having issues.   @nerickson16
