I'm unsure what's occuring here, I didn't experience this in 2020 or 2021. Upon completing my 1099-R, it prompts me to answer if I took a qualified disaster relief - I did in 2020 for Covid.
It automatically imports information from my previously filed 8915 - then later in the process tells me I'll need to visit the form 1099-R topic. If I manually search and jump to the 1099-R form data is there. However, the website keeps prompting me to return to that form. It doesn't appear to be adjusting the amount owed either so something is off with this.
I've cleared my entire form, restarted the process and the same behavior occurs.
Did you verify that line C on Form 8915-F is blank? Some users had issues with that.
Please try these steps to delete the line C entry (if you only had the Covid Distribution):
Another option is to delete "Form 8915-F" and "Qualified 2020 Disaster Retirement Distr" and then go back to the retirement section and reenter the information:
Thank you for the answer, but this was a big problem for me since it was adding nearly $8,500 to my 2022 income as retirement income and I had not taken any disaster relief in 2022 and also what we received in 2020/2021 from the government was automatic and I did not even know that it was called disaster relief.
Once I said "Yes" to that question, I was able to clear out the $8,500 from one of the lines where it had automatically put it for 2020/2021 (and acting as if it was 2022 income), and then it finally went away.
