Will the IRS have priority over child support with regards to wage garnishment? My ex owes $40K in back taxes.
My ex owes $40K in back taxes and is not on any sort of repayment plan. I just gave birth to our daughter and hope to collect child support. 1. Will the amount he owes the IRS affect how much the court orders he pay monthly? and 2. If it comes to wage garnishment, will the IRS have priority?

Sorry. IRS debts come first, child support second, other federal debts third, and state income tax debts last.
