It generally takes from 4-24 hours for a return to reject.  The license is mainly for identification purposes and will facilitate the id verification process.

Normally, IRS does not reject the return if the Driver's License is omitted, but some states require it for electronic filing.

If you filed without your husband's driver's license data, it's possible that your return could be rejected by the IRS' (or your state's) e-file system.

If your return is rejected for this reason, you'll have the opportunity to add the license information and re-submit, and you should learn that shortly.

The only delay would most likely be the time involved in rejecting the return back to you.

Thank you!! Have you heard/seen of this happening? Also, approximately how long does it normally take to reject a return?

If rejected, you have the opportunity to update and resubmit with the identification requested.

I can not correct the issues with the rejection. They say that Linda's SS and last name can not be verified by IRS. I have submitted it 3 times but it keeps being rejected for the same reasons. But  the info on the report is correct. Please help me. I talked to "HELP" and they spent quite a long time to correct problem but it was rejected.

This sometimes happens when the fields are corrupted after importing the information from one  year to the next. Go back and manually edit Linda's information. Re-enter her Social Security number and name again and make sure you are using her correct last name with correct spelling and that she hasn't changed her name in any way. If you think you have done everything you can to correct the error but still getting rejected, then it will be time for you to print your return, sign, and mail.
