Will my automatic payments stop once I've paid my taxes? I don't want the IRS to debit more than I owe.

Yes, once the debt is paid in full the debits will stop.

Once your taxes have been paid in full you will get a letter detailing the amount you paid.

Will the letter indicate that the arrangements has been fulfilled?  How long after final payment?

I have automatic payments drafted from my bank account monthly.  It always comes out on the 15th of each month. It didn't come out this month on the 15th. That concerns me.

Check your account at the IRS :  https://www.irs.gov/payments/view-your-tax-account

If you still have a balance due then check with your bank.

@Shasha921 You have posted to a very old thread that has had no activity for years.  No one in this user forum has the ability to stop anything on any sort of card that you have.  We have no access to your account or to any of your information.   You have to contact the card holder yourself.  We have no way to know what card you are talking about.

My payment plan was recently paid in full from my next year's taxes but the automated payments from my payment plan still came out. Will this be refunded?

I suggest you contact the IRS and confirm the original underpayment is paid off, and inquire if there is any balance.

You can call toll-free at 800-829-1040

I just had the dame issue. Paid it in full 2 weeks ago and it reflects a zero balance, yet they just auto drafted my payment. Did you get yours resolved? I am having trouble getting a live agent.

You will need to contact the IRS for information. It might be easiest to set up an account with them.

IRS Individual Online Account

  • Taxpayers with a Social Security number or an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number can create or access their IRS Individual Online Account to get information they need to file their return.
  • With an IRS Individual Online Account, people can:
  • View balance owed, payment history and schedule payments.
  • Cancel scheduled payments.
  • Get transcripts.
  • View or create payment plans.
  • See digital copies of some IRS notices.
  • View key data from their most recently filed tax return, including adjusted gross income.
  • Validate bank accounts and save multiple accounts, eliminating the need to re-enter bank account information every time they make a payment.
  • View, approve and electronically sign power of attorney and tax information authorizations from their tax professional.
