I am a full-time college student (age 22). I have $10,000 earned income in 2021.
I have never received any stimulus check, since my parents claimed me as a dependent every year.
Due to their high AGI, my parents are NOT eligible for stimulus check.
If my parents don't claim me as a dependent on their 2021 tax return, and I file my own tax return, am I guaranteed to receive the 3rd stimulus check ($1,400)?
Will I receive any stimulus check at all?
Thank you for the info, but it seems to answer slightly different question than mine.
My question was if I would receive $1,400 stimulus check if I file my own 2021 tax return (on my $10,000 income) and not be a dependent on my parents' tax return.
With $10,000 income, will I receive full $1,400, partial payment, or none at all?
You should qualify for the stimulus check if you don't indicate that you can be claimed as a dependent on someone else's tax return.
Thank you. In light of the first responder's explanation, I need further clarification/distinction.
In order to qualify for the 3rd stimulus check, do I need to be NOT ELIGIBEL to be anyone's dependent?
Or can I be eligible to be someone's dependent as long as I am NOT CLAIMED as one?
