Why would i receive a w-2 from a state i have not worked in for two years

You should contact the employer who sent it and ask them.

It could be from a lawsuit or it may be a mistake of some sort.  Did you get any kind of explanatory details with the document?  As stated above, it is best to contact the phone number on the W-2 to get more details.
