Why will it not accept my employer’s name in box C?

My W2 has the employer listed as “PAL’S SUDDEN SERVICE #08” but it will not accept this answer. It just tells me to make sure my W2 matches the form.

Sometimes special characters such as the apostrophe or pound sign can cause issues with a computer program.  Try entering the employer name without those characters to see if the error goes away.

 

Enter 'PALS SUDDEN SERVICE 08'.

I have the same problem with the & (ampersand) character.  TurboTax software should handle the characters in employer name as reported and acceptable in W-2 forms.   Where ever the & character is entered in the box C for employer name, the TurboTax software replaces it with & in the field when displaying it under "Your W-2 info so far" section of the Windows Desktop TurboTax 2021 software.

 

This was not a problem in previous year's version.  TurboTax, please have this bug fixed.

Thank you.  I called support and I was not told it was a known issue.  I tried searching for a topic or discussion on this ampersand special character in employer name and didn't come across the link provided.

Hope an update comes out soon for the fix.

I haven't seen any notification yet of a fix for this.  Anyone from Intuit have a status on this special character bug for employer name in box C?

We are still working to resolve this.  If you haven't already, you can sign up for updates at the link. There is also a workaround of trying to enter the information without the ampersand.

It's a TurboTax bug they still need to fix. See prior messages in thread.  Doesn't work on desktop Windows version.  Likely same issue on all their products.  Signup to get notified when fixed.  I did and still have not gotten any message that it has been fixed.

I have the same issue that I can not enter any character even the cursor focused on "Box c -Employer name".

I have used Turbox desktop for the last 30+ years and never seem this kind of problem.

Our TurboTax team is still working to resolve this. You can sign up for updates using this link. There is also a workaround of trying to enter the information without the ampersand.

The ampersand issue was fixed with latest TurboTax windows desktop version update. I had gotten email that it was fixed and the update allowed me to enter ampersand in employer name field.
