If the IRS is taking too long to send your refund you still have to pay the fees in time.
Turbo Tax says......
We understand that these are unprecedented times and we’re committed to helping our customers who are experiencing hardships. If you’re in need of assistance, call us by the Tuesday prior to your debit date at 1-888-808-1723 to speak with a trained specialist and mention “auto-debit”, or visit TurboTax Support.
See What if the IRS reduces your refund or delays it.
Then when the IRS does send your refund they won't take the fees out again.
And, Why you got charged,
You should have received about 4 emails asking for the fees. If you don't pay they will debit your account. You had to agree to it.
This was the first email. There was nothing that mentioned turbo tax only waited for a short time and then started demanding you pay the fee. I will make sure more people know that turbo tax has a time limit on getting their money even if you haven't gotten yours. We all know the IRS is behind on processing returns. So now turbo tax is saying return is going to be reduced and won't be enough to cover $42, my return is over $4000. Last time I will use turbo tax.
Do you realize there is an Extra $40 Refund Processing Service charge (45 in California) to have the fees deducted from your refund? You could have paid the fees with a credit card and avoided the extra charge and hassle. And the refund would come directly from the IRS to you faster than going through the 3rd party bank.
