Why is my US savings bonds interest included with other interest?

When you enter the 1099-INT, there is a question box that asks if the interest is from a savings or other govt. bond. Go to Federal > Wages and Income > Interest to see that.

Savings bond interest is taxable for Federal, but not for state.
