So you didn't have any tax withholding taken out of your pay or any 1099 you got? If you owe over $1,000 there is a penalty.
no penalty is listed. Line 46 is blank. The amount is due to Obamacare.
But the Obamacare penalty is on line 38 which is included in line 39. So how could that be the difference?
There is no penalty shown on Line 51?
And the amount shown on Line 50 is not the same as Line 39? This is what your actual Form 1040A is showing?
I see no reason whatever for the difference in the amounts. I think intuit has made a mistake. Line 29 says 1,189. as does lines 30, 37, 39 there are no other figures except the total 1,217.
the amount on line 50 is $28 higher than line 39. This is exactly what the 1040A shows. I did my taxes with the free program and also with the 1040 with exemptions both have the same amount you owe. Can I just ignore the line 50 and send in the amount on line 39 it seems right?
If you e-file that return then the IRS is going to expect the amount shown on Line 50 to be the amount to be paid. There is something else going on here because if TurboTax does nothing else it is great at calculations. This would not be a systemic issue because we would have seen this problem on the forum multiple times and this is the first.
Suggest you contact TurboTax support through the Contact link at the top right of the program screen. Click on Contact and click on Contact Us. Post your problem, something like "Form 1040A calculation error on Line 50" and then click on Call Us.
