Why is it asking me to upgrade and pay $40

a refund of 498 and I have been asked to upgrade and pay, WHY?

Once you attempt to enter information that is not supported by the Free Edition of Turbo Tax, the system will prompt you to upgrade to the most suitable version. The  product guide below details the various options; you may click on the  blue links within the FAQ to learn more about each version and the tax situation it supports.

i try to do electronic file but I can't because the system ask me for $40 or I can't complete it .

there's no word thanks anywhere and before field , there are payment and ask me

to deduct from refund or pay by credit card , what I do ?!!

If the system is prompting you to pay a TurboTax fee then you may have an upgraded version of TurboTax. You can review what version you are using by following these steps:

  • Sign into TurboTax Online
  • Continue your return by click Taxes Tax Timeline > Take me to my return
  • Once your return loads, in the top left corner next to the TurboTax Logo you will see the name of the current version you are using.
