Why is it asking "Im preparing this for Arminda who has passed away

The software does not know you and is asking this because if a family member, or the Taxpayer, has passed during the year, there may be additional things to do in order to file.

If I were to "pass away" this year, someone, like my son, would be using TurboTax next year to do my final return.

In this instance, when my name came up, my son would answer "Yes" because I did indeed die.

(not a pleasant thought, but it happens)

The software would add questions at this point such as date of death, because the IRS requires it.

It seems a little cold, but it needs to be asked
