Why doesn't the Health Insurance tab appear in my Federal section so that I can enter my 1095-A?

For tax year 2019, there is no longer a tax penalty for not having health insurance. Therefore, there is no longer a health insurance interview or tab in TurboTax.

However, if you had health insurance coverage on the Marketplace (Obamacare), then you have received a form 1095-A and must enter this form in your tax return.

You can enter your form 1095-A by following these steps:

  1. In TurboTax, open your tax return
  2. Click on Federal in the left-hand column, then on Deductions & Credits on top of the screen
  3. Scroll down to All Tax breaks, locate the section Medical and click on Show more
  4. Click Start next to Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A).

This is a great question. Many of us filed early and will now have to wait 4 months to see our refund because TT has no prompts asking about 1095a. The IRS sent us letters about the missing 1095a. We pay for this product to take care of this for us. It isn’t right.
