Why doesn't my paid alimony of $12,000 show up in my itemized deductions? My marriage was finalized on 12/13/2013.

The itemized deductions are showing only $9,923.00.  Alimony plus deductions would exceed the standard deduction of $12,579.00.

Maybe because it is not an itemized deduction ... it is an adjustment to income and will show on the Sch 1 line 18a.
