You are comparing apples and oranges. The price for online software is structured differently than the price for the CD/download you are seeing from retailers. And....retailers can set their own prices even for the CD/download. So if you want the CD/download go for the best price as long as you are purchasing from a reputable known retailer such as Costco, Amazon, Walmart, Staples, Target, Best Buy, etc.
You are comparing the Premier online edition price of $89 to the Deluxe desktop CD/Download edition price from a retailer.

A retailer can charge whatever they want for the TurboTax software.
Purchasing the TurboTax Premier desktop CD/Download edition from the TurboTax website is $110. The Deluxe desktop CD/Download edition on the TurboTax website is $80
I don’t understand why there is a difference.
if I purchase from retailer such as Amazon for $49, can I not download last year return and prepare 2021 return?
Turbo tax is offering Premier for $89 plus additional $49 for state to prepare return.
I am not seeking any additional support from TurboTax.
