Why does this 1099-Misc ffor medical payment in connection with a car accident in 2016. classified as a business? We did not have a business.

You would enter the 1099-MISC & medical expenses as listed on the TurboTax FAQs listed below.  Any medical expenses you incur out of pocket can be claimed as an itemized deduction on your schedule A, subject to 7.5% of your AGI.  You may be able to offset some of the payment you received on the 1099-MISC by listing your medical expenses.
