Why does my State and Local Tax Refund Summary show double what I received?

Shows Total Refund in 2020 as $2049 which correct
Shows Total of all your payments and withholding as $2,049
Then for total refunds $4,098

I am not sure if this is your issue, but earlier in the tax season, 1099-Gs were getting duplicated by accident, so your situation may be caused by a duplicate 1099-G. Go look and read the following:

***

There was an issue with 1099-Gs (used for state refunds and unemployment) being accidentally duplicated, so the amount was doubled as if you had entered it twice.

The issue has been fixed, but if the 1099-G got duplicated, you will have to go manually delete the extra form.

To find and delete the extra form, do a Search (upper right) for 1099-g, and click on the jump-to link (Mac users must find 1099-G in the Topics List). Then to delete the extra form (if one), do the following:

*** Desktop***

1. go to View (at the top), choose Forms, and select the desired form. Note the Delete Form button at the bottom of the screen.

*** Online ***

1. go to Tax Tools (on the left), and navigate to Tools->Delete a form

2. delete the extra form (if one)
