Why does it say I don't need to amend my state taxes after I amend my federal taxes?

I change the brokerage sales on my federal amended return and selected my virginia state return to amend. My understanding is these are changes are automatically made to my virginia return so I didn't do anything but then Turbotax says I don't need to amend my virginia return.  Do I just assume it is amended and print it so I can file it?
