Why does Credit Karma keeps saying "Sorry. We cannot process this advance. The Credit Karma member must be the same person as the primary taxpayer applying for Refund "

The details such as name, phone number ,email, physical address, everything is the same in both accounts.

The message you're seeing isn't related to the name, phone number or other details in your TurboTax or Credit Karma accounts. 

 

Rather, if the primary taxpayer on your tax return isn't the account holder on your Credit Karma account, Credit Karma may not be able to process your advance.

 

Check to see if the primary taxpayer on your tax return is the same person whose name the Credit Karma account is in.

 

To check this in TurboTax Online: 

  1. Open TurboTax Online
  2. Select Tax Home in the left pane
  3. On the Hi, let's keep working on your taxes! screen, select the dropdown on the right side of the Personal Info box, then select Continue 
  4. On the Personal info summary screen, the primary taxpayer will be the first person listed
