Hi - this can happen if you didn't pay enough taxes relative to your final 2018 income. You can get an analysis of your tax situation with real CPAs if you sign up for TurboTax Live. Hope this helps.

How do you get paid? Through an employer with a W2 form, or are you self employed and you get 1099-MISCs forms from companies that contract to you? Or perhaps another way?

Thanks ... There are a couple of things that could be going on. The first and less likely reason is that you are not withholding enough from your W2. You can check that by creating a new TurboTax account and entering just your W2, and all your deductions. If TurboTax shows that you owe, then you'll need to adjust your W4 with your employer. The second and more likely reason is that you aren't paying enough - or any - tax on your 1099-MISC, which is causing you to pay a bunch of tax when you do your taxes, and potentially even wiping out any refund you might be getting from your W2 alone. Doesn't help you right now, but you can plan for it for next year if that continues to be your situation.
