Why do I have to wait until 1/26/17 to file my return and others have already filled their return?

Others may have filed their returns, but those returns are in a pending state until 1/23/17. The IRS is not accepting e-filed tax returns until 1/23/17. Feb.15 for tax returns that are claiming Earned Income Tax Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit.

In addition, not all state or federal forms are ready at this time. You can check the availability of the forms in the links below.

Some forms, even if they are ready on the state/federal websites, may take a few days to become available within TurboTax software. State returns are not accepted until after your federal return is accepted, if a federal return was filed by itself.

It really pays to wait until all forms, schedules, and acceptance dates have been met. To file early is not always a great thing, and can sometimes cause greater delays.

So I have to wait till 2/15/17? I thought I had to wait until 1/29/17. This is ridiculous. The IRS have not been doing their job correctly.  That's why this is happening..

I know it's frustrating. It's because of a new law called the PATH act. It has to do with identity theft and fraud.
