Why do I have to pay for TurboTax Deluxe but I did not receive the Lifetime Learning Credit that it is saying I received?

I completed my tax information but as I was going to sign the document, I was told that I would need to upgrade to TurboTax Deluxe because I received Lifetime Learning Credit which I have never received nor qualify for. Is there a way I can contact TurboTax for free to check this? I think it is an error.

Did you enter any Qualified Education Expenses into TurboTax?

 

If not, you are correct, you wouldn't qualify for a Lifetime Learning Credit.

 

If you did receive the credit, it would show on your Schedule 3, Part I, Line 3 so check your saved PDF copy of your return. 

 

Otherwise, try closing TurboTax, clear your Cache and Cookies, and try to Efile.  

 

If you get the message about upgrading again, you should be able to decline it and continue.
