Why didn't my state estimated tax payments made in 2022 for 2023 transfer to my 2023 return when I imported the .tax2022 file?

As stated, the .tax2022 file was imported into TT 2023 but the estimated payments for a state did not transfer, it shows nothing for all four ES dates.  I'm concerned - what else didn't transfer.  Is this a common issue? Is it by design so you have to enter manually?

The only estimated payments in your 2022 return would be estimates paid FOR 2022, not 2023 .  The only state estimated payment that could apply to 2023 would be if you made the 4th Qtr estimated payment in Jan 2023.  That could be a federal itemized deduction for 2023.   What payments did you make in 2022 for 2023?

Are you thinking of the 2023 estimates that Turbo Tax prepared for you to make IN 2023?  Those don't transfer over.  You have to manually enter any estimates you made.  Turbo  Tax won't know if or when you actually made them.

You're right, I misstated the Q.  It was the amounts on the ESTIMATE done in 2022 for 2023 payments TO BE PAID for 2023, specifically the amounts on the ES vouchers created in 2022 at the end of tax prep, that did not transfer.  I had updated the 2022 return after filing, with a new name, to reflect the payments actually made in April/June/Sept 2023 and Jan 2024.  Those did not transfer.   Thank you or confirming that they must be entered manually.

How did you reflect the 2023 estimated payments on your  new test 2022 return?  You mean in the Estimated section or on the What-If worksheet?  Those are just to help you prepare the 1040ES slips.
