Why did I receive a check for $244 today for CA State Tax Return when Turbo tax said i owed the same amount which I paid?

You should get a letter from the state explaining the discrepancy.

How did you pay it?  Did you mail a check?  Maybe they also took it out of your bank account so they got it twice?  Look at your CA tax return.  Check lines 71-78.   Is there a $244 payment missing?  Like an estimated payment?  Or you missed some W2 withholding?  

Check the printout or PDF of your return; look for the state cover sheet with the Turbo Tax logo. If you owed tax, it will show the payment information and how/when you decided to pay.
