It's possible to have up to 3 copies of Form 8949. Are any of the amounts on them wrong in some way?

It is possible to get up to six different Forms 8949, depending on the reporting code on your 1099-B.  (It could be A, B, C, D, E, or F.)  The most common codes are:

  • Code B - Short-term transaction for which the cost or other basis is not being reported to the IRS.
  • Code E - Long-term transaction for which the cost or other basis is not being reported to the IRS.
