Why can't I save my new document and get an error message "The document “Untitled” could not be saved as.."

I am using a Mac

How are you trying to save?      Using the File -> save or File plus option key -> save as?

 

The file should always have a name - untitled would indicate a new tax file with no data in it.  

If you installed from a CD, be sure that the CD is NOT in the CD drive.

 

Be sure you are not trying to save to a location that your user does not permissions to write (the default Documents Folder in your user account should be used.

Thank you very much....I was trying to save it to an iCloud folder. Once I moved the file to my hard drive it was saved...thanks again!!
