Why can I put in my 1099G form?

I received a 1099G form, unemployment compensation $365.00. Federal and State income tax withheld is $0. When I click on 1099G, it asks me Were you required to repay unemployment benefits (uncommon)? I say no because I never remember having to pay back any of this. Then I continue and it says, " Based on your tax situation, you need to upgrade to TurboTax Deluxe " Why would I need TurboTax Deluxe just to add the 1099G? If I pay for this, it will then let me to add my 1099G? I am required to add this form to my taxes right?

Yes, you do have to upgrade to report Unemployment Compensation on a 1099-G, and yes, you are required to report it with your tax return.

If you upgrade you will be able to complete your return, including the 1099-G.

Here's a list of situations that aren't included with the free return offer:

  • Itemized deductions claimed on Schedule A
  • Unemployment income reported on a 1099-G
  • Business or 1099-NEC income
  • Stock sales (including crypto investments)
  • Rental property income
  • Credits, deductions, and income reported on other forms or schedules

How much will I have to pay for Turbotax in total? It says $39 Federal. Under that it says state additional and when I click that it says price per state $39.

Then your TurboTax account fees would be $78 plus sales taxes if applicable.
