Why are there random numbers in my Form 1040 Schedule SE that I did not enter?

I do not have any Self Employment income or Farm income.

You must have entered income that TurboTax is recognizing as self-employment type income, either as cash or from a 1099-NEC, 1099-MISC or 1099-K form.

When your self-employment income is $400 or more, after deducting expenses, Schedule SE will generate in TurboTax.

Please see the TurboTax Help article Why am I paying self-employment tax? for more information.

Line 7 and Line 14 are prefilled by the IRS.  TurboTax may show other numbers based on entries.

You file Schedule SE if:

  • The amount on line 4c of Schedule SE is $400 or more, or

  • You had church employee income of $108.28 or more.
