Why am i not being able to move forward without an upgrade option?

It is possible that your tax situation requires a schedule that's not included in the Free Edition.  If this is the case, the software will prompt you to upgrade.  You can read more about this in the TurboTax FAQ below:  https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/4223394
