Why am I being charege $69 to file when I am using the free edition of Turbo Tax?

You're being charged because you appear to be in a LIVE product, which is an upgrade from regular Free Edition.  Underneath your question it shows you are using Live Basic.   That Live product does have a considerable charge.   The Live product is for those who are using a tax expert to help with preparing the return.   You may be able to remove the Live feature and downgrade to regular Free Edition.   Or did you already file your return???

If you haven't filed yet, try this:

@rauyah55  also asked:  "Can I claim the earned income credit with the turbo tax free edition?"

Yes.  TurboTax says:

TurboTax Free Edition is intended for taxpayers who file with simple Form 1040 returns only (no schedules except for Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit and Student Loan Interest).

So according to that statement, the earned income credit would be included in Free Edition.
