That depends on whether you are using online software or desktop software. If you are using online software it is an extra fee to prepare a state return. If you purchase desktop software then it can include the state software for one state--except be careful because retailers sell Deluxe both with and without state software so you need to read the packaging to know if you are getting the state program. Desktop Premier and Home and Business always include the state.
