While using the desktop client, I'm getting an error of "Correct your signature date". Should I just enter in a date as suggested, or do I need to enter today's date?

I'm filing late... very late, in fact - to the point where I have to use the desktop software for 2019 (it's Jan' 2, 2021). That being said, I'm just finishing up the final page and am trying to e-submit, but I'm stuck on the following page:

Is it ok for me to just enter 12/31/2020, or do I need to stop where I'm at and simply file manually? I'd much rather file online if possible in order to get the quick IRS confirmation, etc., but don't want to get myself into trouble here.

Thanks!

You are trying to e-file a 2019 tax return and it cannot be e-filed.  The 2019 tax return can only be printed and mailed.

Go back and change your method of filing to Mail.

The program gave you a notice that e-filing a 2019 tax return was no longer available.

you will have to manually sign and date the returns before filing. also be sure to attach any withholding forms. follow TT filing instructions.

if you have state returns read TT filing instructions for the state.  The return goes to a different address than the fed. also attach any state withholding forms

I also suggest if you are going to use USPS for delivery you use a method where you get proof of delivery.
