While e-filing can I pay the majority of the owed tax with direct debit and the rest with a credit card?

You won't be able to split the payment between two credit cards using the TurboTax system during e-file.  But, you can when you pay directly to the IRS.  Select "Pay by check" when e-filing and a voucher for the full amount will be produced, which you can then ignore.  After you e-file, you can use the website below to make two separate payments with a credit card directly to the IRS.

Thank you for the response Turbo TaxAmyV!  Let me clarify my question a bit...  I would like to pay the majority with direct pay (which is free) and the rest with a credit card.  Is this possible?

I have verified that you can pay the amount you desire through direct pay, even if it is not the full amount due. You may be prompted to create an installment agreement for the remaining balance, although there should also be an option to skip that step. You can then go to the IRS website to pay the remaining balance.

At what point in the process do I get to choose the amount?  I have taken it right up to signing the documents and it has not given the option to me as of yet.

Or are you saying that I e-file with pay by check and then do the two part payment directly from the IRS website?
