Which section do I use in turbo tax to input my part time contractor income that I didn't receive 1099-MISC or 1099-K? General income, other income, or 1099-MISC income?

I input this income in my hobby income on last year tax report. Because it was just one time and only $300. But I received much more money in this tax year(2018) I recived money several times from my friends who asked me their home remodelling(flooring, molding, tiling etc.) The total mount was around $16,000 (usually $2000~3500/each project). I received only cash or personal check.

(1) Where do I input this income in turbotax, General income, other income, or 1099-MISC income?

(2) Do I input only net income(Gross income - Material cost)?

- Sometimes, they also give me money for material (laminate floor etc.)

Report it as general income.   Enter the gross income -- you will be entering the expenses separately.

To enter the income please follow these steps:

  1. In your return, click Business > Continue > I'll choose what I work on
  2. In the Business Income and Expenses section, click the Start/Update box.
  3. Click Edit next to your business name.
  4. Continue through the screens until you come to Your [XX] Business.
  5. In the Income section click Update.
  6. On the Business Income screen, click Start/Update next to General Income.
