I am working on my state tax section in turbotax.
I find there is no place for me to enter property tax amount that I paid in NY, EXCEPT ask me whether I got star credit.
This is my first year in NY state.
When I live in other state, there is always some place for me to enter the property tax that I paid during the tax year. It always states very clearly: did you pay property tax for your primary residence? if your answer is yes, then ask you enter the amount.
Can any body who lives in NY tell me is that the same you have on turbotax that the sofeware design in this way for NY state tax?
Thanks
what turbotax are you using? online or the software? using the software there are more than 1 way to enter property tax, open form 1098, mortgage interest statement, box 10 is for property tax
Enter all of your property tax information in the Federal section, under Your Home in Deductions and Credits. TurboTax will auto transfer your deductions to your state return(s).
premium live, online version.
I do not have mortgage.
Where can I enter that number in NY state section?
While in Federal section , in the deduction section , there is place for property tax that I paid. But when I goes to NY state section, there is no place to enter that number.
Is this the way that Turbotax designed as?
And since I can enter it in the federal section , I should not worry whether I can enter that number in state tax section?
Thanks
