Unfortunately, the purchase of a cemetery plot is a personal expense and is not tax deductible.

Are the taxes paid on said cemetery plot deductible as a big-ticket item?

No, the sales taxes paid for the cemetery plot is not one of the major purchases eligible to be added to the general sales tax deduction.

Thank you for the answer.  Where could I have found that myself?

IRS schedule A instructions.  https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1040sca.pdf

If you elect to use the general sales tax tables then you can add to that the tax on motor vehicles which include:

  • Cars
  • Motorcycles
  • Boats
  • Airplanes
  • Motor homes
