Where do you add alimony payments to income

I don't see a section in Wages and Salaries for that

If the divorce or separation decree was finalized after 12/31/2018 you do not enter alimony paid.

Otherwise -

To enter alimony paid -

  • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
  • Click on Deductions and Credits
  • Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
  • Scroll down to Other Deductions and Credits
  • On Alimony Paid, click the start or update button

Or enter alimony paid in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to alimony paid

However, if you were referring to receiving an alimony payment -

To enter Alimony payments received -

  • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
  • Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
  • Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
  • Scroll down to Less Common Income
  • On Alimony Received, click the start or update button

Or enter alimony received in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to alimony received

Alimonies for divorces and separations finalized after 2018 are no longer taxable or deductible.
